Haven’t taken it to Disney yet, but have it configured. Set it up at home as recommended so all of our “gizmos” will work with it. Looking forward to bringing it along on our next trip. You can’t beat the size for travel. We’re a 2 laptop one being work , 2 iPad one being work , 2 smartphone family so having wireless will be a huge benefit. We like to use our internet in the common space. I downloaded an App to my andorid phone “Wireless Analyzer” I’m sure there’s one for iPhone as well that will also help you setup your router to the best channel for improved speed. It finds all the wireless networks in range and tells you their channel and helps you determine the best channel to set your device to. I’ve run it at home, but with so few wireless networks in range it hasn’t been that helpful. I’m sure at the resort with the number of people now bringing their own wireless routers, it may work well.
Camera app[ edit ] The Camera app gets two new features; time-lapse and self-timer. Time-lapse records frames at shorter intervals than normal film frequencies and builds them into movies, showing events in a faster speed. Self-timer gives the user the option of a three-second or ten-second countdown before automatically taking a photo.
Photos and videos were backed up in full resolution and in their original formats. This feature almost meant that lower-quality versions of photos could be cached on the device rather than the full-size images, potentially saving significant storage space on models with limited storage availability.

Top stories WiFi operates in unregulated portions of the radio spectrum. These frequencies are shared with things like microwave ovens, cordless phones, garage door openers and an increasing plethora of other WiFi devices. Reboot Routers This is basic but often effective. Unplug the power cord, wait 5 seconds, then reconnect. If you have multiple routers or wireless access points WAPs try rebooting all of them when problems occur.
On your computer, turning WiFi Off then back On should force the system to rescan for available networks.
The easiest way to connect the Apple TV to the internet is by running an ethernet cable from your router/modem to the ethernet port on the Apple TV. But not all people keep the internet router/modems in the same room as the television.
Sat Dec 17, 1: Apple Airport Express and Vonage pkaiman wrote: Comcast cable modem hardwired via ethernet to Airport Express. Airport Express provides wireless network for entire house. We use the AE to support not only wireless Internet but also to share music and photos across multiple machines throughout the house. Has anyone else had luck with this setup and Vonage? I’m interested in not only hearing that the Internet connection is ok but also that Air Tunes and photo sharing via iTunes and iPhoto continue to function ok.
Actually, I don’t have experience with that equipment, but I see no reason why it shouldn’t work. With the Vonage router connected directly to your cable modem and the AE wireless plugged into that, the connectivity within your LAN house would be the same as you have currently. The internet connection would have to go through the Vonage box, but that shouldn’t create problems unless your current internet speed is very high. By the way, you’ve entered this in the hard wiring portion of the Vonage forums.

The company officially discontinued the AirPort products on Thursday, when it confirmed the news in a statement to 9to5Mac. Apple announces new iPad with classrooms in mind All three AirPort products that Apple is currently selling — AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme, and AirPort Time Capsule — will remain available in Apple’s online store, in retail stores and with authorized resellers while supplies last, the company has confirmed. This is hardly a surprise: Apple reportedly shut down its AirPort team in November , and none of these products have been updated for years.
Apple didn’t share any reason for the decision, but it did tell Engadget it might re-enter the router market if it decides it can make a meaningful contribution to the space — which sort of tells why Apple left the market in the first place. The AirPort was first introduced in as a simple, hassle-free way to get you online. If you’re still looking to buy a router from Apple, the company has a remedy of sorts: It currently sells the Linksys Velop home mesh Wi-Fi system.

Gadget Hacks If you have no desire to get a separate Mac desktop computer, but want to either supersize your laptop’s screen for gaming or need to get additional screen real estate while you work, then connecting your MacBook, MacBook Air, or MacBook Pro to an external display is the right call. Your Mac should automatically detect the additional monitor, and it will act as an extended desktop to your primary one AKA your Mac’s screen.
If for some reason your monitor isn’t recognized by your MacBook model, open up System Preferences, and in the Displays settings pane, click on Detect Displays. If you see Gather Windows instead, hold down the Option key to make it change to Detect Displays, then click on it. This should make your external display function properly. Setting Your Monitor as Your Primary Desktop Now that you have your new monitor connected and detected, you may want to set it as your primary desktop. This will make it so that your menu bar, dock, and desktop as well as everything on your desktop are displayed on the external monitor instead of on your Mac’s screen.

The security protocol WEP, WPA2, etc is set in your router, and the wireless card has to support that protocol if it is going to connect. That means if your router your wireless network is set for a WPA2 connection, then the wireless card your Airport card in the old PowerMac has to support connecting to that protocol.
You can’t just choose a random protocol – it has to match up with the security level on the wireless network. So, see if you have any chance at all, by turning security OFF on the router, then try a wireless connection from your old Mac.

My school has interactive whiteboards installed in every classroom. This is a fairly recently upgrade. It helps teachers engage children, it jazzes up your lessons, it allows you to save what you write, and adds some interactivity to your classroom. These are all positive traits, and things that teachers are trying to do everyday. I am speaking as someone who has used both tools in his classroom. In fact, at the first school that I taught at, I purchased an interactive whiteboard one year with my entire budget allocation.
After I began to showcase the tool at professional development sessions, my school decided to put one in every classroom. So lets compare these two devices in terms of function, cost, and extras. I will look at what the devices do similarily, how much the average cost is for the devices, and what other advantages one tool might have over the other.
Function An interactive whiteboard needs a computer and projector in order to be used.

AppleInsider digs one out. This is why we hang on to our old Apple gear. The AirPort Express hasn’t seen any development in half a decade and Apple discontinued it this year. But, with Tuesday’s firmware update, these devices can now be used with the latest AirPlay 2.
Apple AirPort Express Although Apple’s AirPort Express is primarily designed to help users extend their home networks to more rooms in the house, you can use the product to pipe music to multiple.
Apple started selling AirPort devices back in , when it did so, Wi-Fi was in its infancy, and the ability to connect over a wireless network was a big deal. But times change, and in recent years, everyone we have spoken too had always been a bit confused about what Apple’s AirPort devices did, and what the point of an AirPort Base Station was.
After all, these days most internet providers will give you a modem that does everything you need, why would you want to buy an extra product from Apple. Well, it seems that Apple has decided there is no longer any reason to keep making it’s AirPort devices. On 16 April , nearly 20 years after the first AirPort device launched, the company announced that it is discontinuing its Airport routers.
This news didn’t come as a big surprise, back in November , a Bloomberg report claimed that:
